Gist Cancer UK
GIST Cancer UK aims to support GIST cancer patients and fund research into GIST to improve treatments and find a cure for this rare cancer.
GIST Cancer UK is a network of patients and their carers, all of whom are affected by GIST. They share experience and offer each other mutual support by telephone and by email. Currently they hold two annual meetings, where members have the opportunity to meet together, and also to meet professionals working in the field.
Friends of the River Wye
Friends of the River Wye aim to better understand the complex problems surrounding the severe pollution of the River Wye and effects of climate change. They run a citizen science project enabling local people to become guardians of their nearest stretch of river and monitor water quality on a regular basis.
Friends of the River Wye aim to restore the ecological health of the river for all the wildlife that calls it home, for the local communities who depend on it, and for the visitors who come to enjoy this beautiful river landscape. They pursue all means to make the Wye a clean river, properly protected, so that it can be enjoyed for generations to come.
River Action
River Action UK works actively in partnership with other NGOs and environmental activist groups on a river by river, catchment by catchment basis. They are also the principal coordinator of a nationwide campaign to promote the restoration of the funding of government agencies across the UK tasked with the environmental protection of our rivers. The aim is to ensure that the monitoring of water quality and the inspection and prosecution of polluting industries is significantly increased. Their resources are drawn from the expertise and experience of a number of individuals and organizations from across the world of environment/conservation, politics, science, the investment community, the communications & PR industry and the legal profession.
They help create noise in the business world, across the political sphere, and by empowering and amplifying the work of other activists and allies. They promote awareness and education of the causes of environmental malpractice by the food industry and other polluters and by advancing knowledge on river pollution mitigation measures.
Wye Catchment Partnership
The Wye Catchment Partnership formed in 2014 to bring together organizations, initiatives and individuals who have a shared interest in the catchment. It facilitates collaborative working to deliver improvements across several key themes. Their priorities include water quality and water quantity.
The partnership has a diverse membership with representatives from rivers trusts, wildlife trusts, governmental organizations, private forestry, farming unions, water companies, conservation trusts and local companies as well as interested individuals.
